Coach Jefferies

Coach Dave Jefferies is entering his 20th year of coaching high school football. He graduated from Cibola High School in Yuma, AZ in 1992, and then received his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education from Brigham Young University in Provo, UT in 1999. While completing his degree, Coach Jefferies coached football one year each at Provo High School as a freshman assistant and then at Mountain View High School in Orem as a JV assistant. He then moved to Gilbert, AZ where he joined the Mesquite High School varsity coaching staff for Mesquite's inaugural varsity season. While teaching PE/Weights and coaching the offensive line at Mesquite, Coach Jefferies completed his Master's Degree in Educational Leadership through Northern Arizona University. After 7 seasons at Mesquite, Coach Jefferies moved to Desert Ridge High School in Mesa to shorten his commute from San Tan Valley and he continued as a varsity assistant and PE/Weights teacher for the next 3 years. When Campo Verde High School in Gilbert opened it's doors in 2009, Coach Jefferies became the offensive coordinator and head strength coach and served in that capacity for the next 3 years. In 2012 Coach Jefferies and Family moved to Thatcher, AZ where he accepted the head football coaching job at Thatcher High School. While at Thatcher, Coach Jefferies was able to compile a 30-7 record and be a part of some very special teams. Coach Jefferies’ most enjoyable memory while at Thatcher was beating Yuma Catholic in the 2013 regular season. This was Yuma Catholic’s only loss to a team other than Northwest Christian in 5 years, and their only home loss in three years.  In 2015 Coach Jefferies was offered the Head Football Coaching position at Benjamin Franklin High School in Queen Creek, AZ.  Coach Jefferies jumped at the chance to take on this challenge of building the program at Benjamin Franklin.  Coach Jefferies has been a part of three brand new or nearly new high schools as an assistant and went to a brand new high school as a student, and knows what it takes to build a solid football program.  Coach Jefferies and Family are also very excited to be back “home” in the East Valley. Coach Jefferies and his wife Becki have 5 children; they are Chad (19), Noah (17), Zach (15), Sariah (12), and Hailey (10). When he is not coaching football (Is he ever not coaching football?) he enjoys going on walks with his wife, biking, swimming, and just spending time with the family.
